Nigerian forward, Odion Ighalo, has narrowly missed out on the Premier League player of the month award in
England, The Nation reports.
The Watford striker was narrowly beaten by Manchester United’s new teenage striker, Anthony Martial, during the announcement of the winner today.
Ighalo’s nomination came as a result of his goal scoring prowess for his newly-promoted side in the Premier League last month.
Only four times have Nigerians won the prestigious award in the past with former West Brom star forward, Peter Odemwingie, winning it three times in the past.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian star forward has promised to help his team defeat high-flying London side, Arsenal in their week nine EPL match which will be played at the Vicarage Road on Saturday.
