Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema says he laughed when he was informed of Arsenal’s rumoured interest in his services.
Arsene Wenger was thought to be seeking a top class striker in the summer because of the injuries that was inflicted on Danny Welbeck and the perceived lack of trust in Theo Walcott and
Olivier Giroud.
However, Wenger was unable to sign a striker and claimed he could not because there was a lack of quality players in the market.
Benzema however says he laughed when he heard he was linked to Arsenal.He says he would never leave Real Madrid for Arsenal.
Daily Mirror quoted him thus: “I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours.
“In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why would I leave?
“I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it’s that simple.”
Benzema joined Madrid in 2009 for €35 million ($50 million US dollars), and signed a six-year contract. He has scored 140 goals in 289 appearances for the capital club.
Arsenal play Bayern Munich on Tuesday October 19, 2015 as they continue their champions league campaign. They have lost their first two matches already.
